HOUSTON – The Hector Herrera era is over in Houston, and the love for the former Houston Dynamo star seems to be fading.

Months after his exit from Major League Soccer, a mural featuring the Mexican midfielder has been vandalized with a red clown nose. The ex-Dynamo captain was presented with the work of art as part of a marketing strategy behind his MLS move in 2022.

Located on the 2800 block of Dallas Street in East Downtown, Houston. The mural was painted by local artist Elizabeth Umanzor.

The Houston Dynamo declined to pick up Herrera’s option last November. Herrera returned to his homeland to sign with Liga MX side Toluca last January.
